Life, and consequently happiness

This week has led me to think quite a bit. Sometimes all this, a race for fame, fortune, power, and love, just doesn't seem worth it. But then I remembered this:
Those of us who do not dwell on the meaning of life are the ones who live life. Long ago I came to the realization that there is, actually, no meaning to life. We are all so inconsequential that nothing, nothing, truly matters. But there doesn't need to be a meaning. Whatever you believe, evolution or creationism or whatever, we are here. That is all that matters. It logically follows that this useless power of life we possess should be spent the best we can, with no regrets. Anyone can add their own meaning, their own happiness, to their life. This may be hard, as biases, culture, peer pressure, your own family may try to steer your future, and cloud your view of the world. John Lennon says it best: “When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.” Happiness is all that matters.
I believe last week I also forgot to mention a few more of my hobbies. Frequently I go hiking, and sometimes I ski. Skiing is probably the sport I like best, but I only get to go once a year.
